Ami Vitale has her eight steps to improve your documentary photography. I think that they are all valuable in shooting pictures. I think that respecting your subjects is the most important one. If I could photograph a certain culture I would want to photograph some Native Americans. I think that it is interesting that some of the tribes still do some of the same things that they did back when America was founded. I think that all of these are important. Doing your research is important because you don't want to be photographing something that you don't understand, or you could be missing out on some of the cool things. I would try to focus what unites people. When you focus on what people have in common you will get better reviews and more money.
The first steps of documentary photography is to do your research. This means that you need to know what you are photographing before you go on the trip. The next step is to take things that all people across the world has in common. You have to be able to think like the person that you are photographing and asking yourself if you would want this picture published. You can't be timid of people you need to be able to approach them and talk to them. Planning out what you will ask them and how you are asking them helps you. She says that when you slow down and try to notice little things it helps. Coming to the person with respect will help earn there cooperation. You need to use copy right to your advantage and get it copyrighted. Michael Crouser takes pictures that are in the moment and capture the moment. Jennifer Schlesinger shows how humans interact with nature. The both take pictures to show feeling. They both create an image. I like Michael Crouser better because his pictures are spontaneous. I think that he is better because his shows more feeling. I like Jennifer's too but it didn't show feeling as much.
I am representing Pitney stamping. My products are stamps. I am trying to target librarians and old people. I think that I would expect to see this advertisement in a magazine. I am using natural light. I need stamps and a white background.
Elgin Park set up his shots. They were from the 1900s. Maggie Taylor took pictures and had old pictures of people and digitally manipulated them and combine them into one. They both set up the shot, and both spend lots of time on it. They are different because Maggie made hers on the computer and Elgin didn't. Elgin made it realistic and Maggie makes it look like a painting. I liked Maggie because she made hers fun. The pictures that she took were manipulated. She also got hers check by another person.
Vivian Maier was a street photographer. I think that it was interesting that she faked being french. Vivian beat the kids that she was with. I thought it was odd that she collected the newspapers. Vivian took pictures in the city. She was secretly taking pictures without the subjects consent. Why did she fake being French if she didn't want to have attention drawn to her.
He started dabbling with street photograph while he was studying to become a aeronautical engineer. He captured images of people smuggling out of Prague. The titled it P.P. to protect his family. They are mostly black and white and it shows deep emotion. I like the idea of him showing the public some of the problems and reporting the smugglers.
I got an image then followed the directions off of you tube. The easiest part was getting the image and turning it black. The most difficult part was Rasterizeing it.
Shadows can cast different meanings than what it actually is. Shadows do not have the distracting pieces of texture. when you shine a light on a subject on the opposite side is castes a shadow.
I used the tri tone when I edited it. I think that it weakened the image because it got rid of some of the contrast. Some people might choose to add filters because it changes the mood pending on the color of the scene.
